Meet the Founders of PMC

What happens when three tennis-loving friends with incredible professional backgrounds discover a shared love for mahjong? They create the Phoenix Mahjong Club, where community, fun, and strategy come together in perfect harmony.

Meet Our Mahj Instructors

Meet our PMC mahjong instructors, who can’t to spread the love of mahjong to you!

Danna

I am originally from Omaha, Nebraska and graduated from Creighton University before starting my career as a kindergarten teacher. I later moved to Phoenix to be closer to my sisters and eventually transitioned into commercial real estate. I’m lucky to be married to a great husband, and together we have a full, blended family: two handsome teenage boys and two amazing adult stepdaughters who are married to the most wonderful husbands. I also go by “Nana Danna,” thanks to my sweet one-year-old grandson, who I get to babysit weekly which always ends up being my favorite day of the week! I have four dogs all doodles — two of them are certified pet therapy dogs. We volunteer around the Valley with Hospice of the Valley and Pawsitive Friendships, I have become involved with a popular Korean skincare and wellness brand, which has been such a fun and fascinating journey. Outside of Mahjong, I enjoy Pilates, tennis, traveling, and spending time with my close-knit group of friends.

Heather

Originally from New Mexico, I moved to Arizona in 1999 and have called it home ever since. I’m the proud mom of two sons, both graduates of Brophy College Prep. My older son is currently a first-year law student at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at ASU, and my younger son is a freshman majoring in chemical engineering at ASU. Over the years, I’ve held numerous volunteer roles including with the Brophy Mothers’ Guild and have spent the last 20 years in various roles for my sorority, Pi Beta Phi. Outside of volunteering, I enjoy playing (and teaching) mahjong, practicing pilates, hiking, and taking dance fitness classes.

Allison

I’m a native Phoenician who has made memorable stops in Boulder, New York City, and Los Angeles, and now call Scottsdale home. In addition to advocating for families as they navigate their child’s educational needs, you can find me spending time with my son, traveling the world, cooking, and enjoying just about any outdoor activity. As a lifelong educator with a newfound passion for Mahjong, becoming an instructor felt like a natural next step. Sharing my love of Mahjong with others brings me great joy!

Lindsey

Lindsey is a longtime Arcadia local. She and her husband have two teenage daughters and a pair of spoiled Aussie pups. She has been playing mahjong for three years—and it was love at first Mahj! When she’s not at the mahjong table, she enjoys cooking and playing tennis.

Jill

I was born in Arizona, but moved to Portland Oregon at 6 months old where I spent most of my life.  I worked part time at my husband’s investment consulting firm doing the books and was actively involved in Assistance League. After retiring,  my husband Joe and I were drawn back to the  sun and moved here 5 years ago.   We have a son, daughter, son-in-law and 3 Australian Labradoodles.  I love to traveI and enjoy tennis, Pickleball, running, hiking and yoga—and my newest passion Mahjong!  I learned to play a little over 3 years ago—I am on my 4th card and I would say I have a slight addiction!   Mahjong has introduced me to so many wonderful friends and people in the area and I have loved the sense of community it has brought to me.

Gwen

Gwen is a native Phoenician who married another native Phoenician. After  retiring from commercial real estate to have her two beautiful kids, she became a fitness instructor. When she’s not playing mahjong you can find her on the tennis court, a double black diamond ski run, hiking Squaw Peak, or reading the latest thriller!

Nikki

Nikki is a Mahjong enthusiast who looks forward to sharing her love for the game with you!  After a career as an attorney, Nikki is now an interior designer, set to open her own firm in 2026.  When she isn’t working, Nikki enjoys playing Mahjong, tennis, and pickleball, working out, and spending time with her two children and friends.  Nikki brings her creative eye and strategic thinking skills to the mahjong table.  Get ready to learn the ropes from an energetic and detail-oriented instructor!
