What happens when three tennis-loving friends with incredible professional backgrounds discover a shared love for mahjong? They create the Phoenix Mahjong Club, where community, fun, and strategy come together in perfect harmony.

Meet our PMC mahjong instructors, who can’t to spread the love of mahjong to you!

Danna

I am originally from Omaha, Nebraska and graduated from Creighton University before starting my career as a kindergarten teacher. I later moved to Phoenix to be closer to my sisters and eventually transitioned into commercial real estate. I’m lucky to be married to a great husband, and together we have a full, blended family: two handsome teenage boys and two amazing adult stepdaughters who are married to the most wonderful husbands. I also go by “Nana Danna,” thanks to my sweet one-year-old grandson, who I get to babysit weekly which always ends up being my favorite day of the week! I have four dogs all doodles — two of them are certified pet therapy dogs. We volunteer around the Valley with Hospice of the Valley and Pawsitive Friendships, I have become involved with a popular Korean skincare and wellness brand, which has been such a fun and fascinating journey. Outside of Mahjong, I enjoy Pilates, tennis, traveling, and spending time with my close-knit group of friends.

Linda

Originally from Chicago, I moved to Arizona over 40 years ago. I met my husband, Matt, while working at Accenture. Together, we have five wonderful kids and one son-in-law. Three have graduated college, one is currently attending TCU, and our youngest is a junior at Xavier. I love staying active and enjoy tennis, pickleball, and golf (sort of). But my obsession is Mahjong! I have been known to memorize a mahjong card or 2!

The Phoenix Mahjong Club (PMC) is just what the Mahjong scene in Phoenix, Arizona needed. Founders Julia, Leah, and Rachel not only brought a community of women together who were eager to join this growing trend, but did it flawlessly. Every two weeks, members gather to play in locations around the valley, ranging from stunning private homes to charming boutiques and stylish event spaces. With these impressive surroundings, delicious catered dishes and an abundance of wine served, it is the perfect way to spend two hours with old and new friends. It is no surprise that their waitlist is packed.
